Meet the Modern Art Cartel

Contemporary Artist, Abstract Expressionist
Rafael Scasserra
Born in Toronto in 1971 - Rafael started creating art at the age of 6, and right away people started to notice his gift. Rafael’s family, friends and teachers were amazed by his art and recommended he attend private art school. Being raised in an Italian immigrant family had lots of benefits, but it meant that there was never spare money for luxuries like art school, so Rafael’s dreams were put on hold.

At age 11 Rafael and his family travelled to Italy where he was inspired by the incredible history, architecture and art. He got to see the art created by the hands of the masters like DaVinci and MichaelAngelo. This reignited Rafael’s passion for art, when he came home he began painting everything he could.

Every wall was his canvas. Rafael also draws inspiration from his childhood. He grew up in the Jane and Finch area of Toronto. Through his neighborhood experiences, Rafael was introduced to different cultures, hip hop and graffiti art. Rafael’s art is in high demand and is influenced by culture, architecture and his musical background.

Todd Monk
Todd Monk is an emerging realistic painter using a completely unique style called Pixilism, creating vibrantly beautiful, large scale paintings that are truly alluring.

Monk explores beauty while presenting emotions of tranquility, and sensuality. He evokes excitement, inviting the spectator into a somewhat private environment, such as a woman swimming nude in her own privacy, eliciting a meditative juncture. Best known for his seductive figures, the viewer is captivated by the unseen, inner life of the subjects he portrays.

Working out of Toronto, Monk’s work is defined by dedication to detail and recreating luminous feminine figures, not afraid to bridge sensuality with elegance.

Todd's paintings have been exhibited in Toronto, Miami, New York and has been in galleries in New York, San Francisco, Dallas, Palm Springs, Laguna Beach, Collingwood. He has been a part of the Riverdale Art Walk,The Artist Project, Queen West Art Crawl, Spectrum Miami Art Fair 2015, Affordable Art Fair NYC 2016 and The Brain Project 2017.
